Lemon juice works exactly the same way. We were clearing out our old board games the other week and our 'Operation' had exactly the same problem. After a few minutes of applying lemon juice with a cotton bud it was working again nicely.

That Leia Endor card definitely looks wrong. You've mentioned the bubble, and the 'Ages 4 and up' font is also wrong. Looks like a recard to me.
