Who loved the Marvel comics? (and still loves them?)

I couldn't put it better myself. The comics really were our Star Wars fandom back then, and as you say it was affordable. For a few pence, we could read the actual continuing adventures of our heroes. Kids these days have too much else occupying their minds to take a comic to their hearts. I...

Who loved the Marvel comics? (and still loves them?)

I agree that the Tarkin storyline is one of the greats. What a great idea it was to have discontented Imperial officers plot to murder Darth Vader. If a story is by David Michelinie or Mary Jo Duffy, you know that it's going to be a classic.

Who loved the Marvel comics? (and still loves them?)

I make no secret of my love for the original Marvel Star Wars comics and the Sunday Express/LA times comic strip. I considered them at the time to be the actual continuing story of Star Wars. I was completely shocked when it appeared that Han Solo had been killed at the hands of Chewbacca in...

    My 2-1b focus

Do you have “The Art of The Empire Strikes Back”? It includes the original blueprints and some great design sketches of 2-1B. It says “The medical staff is headed by Too-Onebee, a medical droid with a human brain.” I always took that as meaning that the droid actually had a human brain fused...

    1985 figs

I would have truly loved a Rebel Fleet Trooper/Rebel Trooper/Alderaan soldier as a kid. I had a special memory of them being so brave and cool-looking. Back in ’78 I even painted some WW2 Russian soldiers to look like the Alderaan troops – my preferred description. I suspect that the defenders...

Is this a list of all of the Palitoy Star Wars toys? (edited)

A Denys Fisher Chewbacca hand puppet? What sorcery do you speak of? Is there any kind of pictorial evidence for this mythical beast?

Thanks. I've never come across one myself.

Is this a list of all of the Palitoy Star Wars toys? (edited)

I checked the Mr Palitoy site and it has an image of the Palitoy 1979 catalogue, where all of the Star Wars die cast vehicles are marked as being 'new.' http://www.freewebs.com/mrpalitoy/swcatalogues.htm I'm getting there with this list.

Palitoy packaging for the white TIE Fighter?

In compiling a list of all of the Star Wars toys produced/distributed by Palitoy, I have been unable to determine if the company produced their own packaging for the original white TIE Fighter. The one that I have in my collection is Kenner with a Palitoy sticker. I am aware that Kenner updated...

Is this a list of all of the Palitoy Star Wars toys? (edited)

Thanks for the input. I'm basing this list on Palitoy trade catalogues. Also product catalogues and posters. The items were available to retailers in each particular year. I might include the Special Offer Cantina if the year it came out can be determined.

Good point about the die cast in 1980 - I just left them off for some reason! The jury is out on whether the first set came out in 78. I may have to make more changes.

What other toy lines did you use with your SW?

We didn't have much money in our household and Star Wars figures tended to be expensive. Charles Piser from the Black Hole ended up being Luke (I didn't like Luke enough to shell out any money for him!). I used anything I could get my hands on including Airfix Eagles, M.A.C, Star Trek, Black...

    Looking through some old boxes....

Great to see you did a Star Wars scrapbook for an English project. I did produced a 'dossier' on Star Wars as part of my English course work but I never got it back! Did you keep many editions of the Sunday Express comic strip? They are tough to find now.
