Lucky with the pen as well! Bellingham strolls around as if we should all be grateful for his presence. Find him very hard to warm to. Madueke and Spence shouldn't even be there, let alone starting. Rice put a decent shift in, but worried he might be injured. Rashford, Saka and Rogers livened it up a bit, but overall very poor.

Thankfully, the win wasn't essential, but the lack of any sort of plan B to break them down was slightly concerning.
Wait until we meet "real" opposition!

I know SFA about football so here's my contribution to this thread :D

So glad Paraguay lost last night. What an utterly vile team. Ref had a shocker- not a single booking for them, despite the constant shithousery. Cape Verde really showed them up with their approach.

On balance think I'd rather we took on Norway than Brazil
Just need to cut off supply to the beast upfront smother their midfield , mark him out of the game !
Hopefully there is a plan we have a manager that looks capable and a team that are playing as a team

Will be a tricky game as you say, but If England can keep the momentum going there is hope!

Can't wait for Sat game…come on England!

Fair play to Norway, totally deserved to win.
Brazil are piss poor.

Missed the england game, for some reason I wasn't staying up to 1am, sounds like a great game though

I woke up at 1am saw it was delayed an hour, went back to sleep until 3:50am and watched the end. Portugal out, that's my team gone. 🤣 Is Jordan Henderson the first ever player to get booked and stretchered off without even playing?

Tournament starts on Thursday.

Gutted for Egypt. Although, I have to hold my hands up and apologise. I turned their game on thirty seconds before Argentina scored their first goal and I watched until the end. There's no other plausible explanation than I jinxed it. For which I apologise.

Nice to see Belgium thump America and do the world of Football a favour.
FIFA corruption is beyond ridiculous

Not quite WC related, but **** me Newcastle!

Isak last summer, Tonali and Gordon gone, and Bruno Guimares (spelling) want out. Add in Liverpool pinching Ekitike and Munoz and now Villa pinch some unpronounceable fella from them. Has there ever been a worse 12 months of transfer dealings?

Also, Tielemens to Utd. Where did that come from. 35m for a 29yr old. Big names have flopped at Utd, promising kids from overseas have choked, maybe players with PL experience is the way to go. Either way, for that money you wont get many players of his ability, albeit he will have limited resale value.
But, do me a favour and go back to buying over priced ***** please!

And now City and looking at 100m on that Moroccan kid.

That's nearly a billion spent in 18 months. And the 115 charges seem to be miraculously disappeared. Just three years and counting.
Gonna be hilarious when they get a 6 month transfer ban, a £15 fine and deducted 8 pts 🙄✊💦

I think we can all agree going with 10 at the back when there is half an hour left is not the brightest idea.

I can see why he wanted to go a bit more defensive and any comments we make are laced with what the Yanks call "Monday morning quarterbacking". Anything the manager does that doesn't come off is daft and you would never have done it, anything he does that's right is obvious and you would have done it sooner.
With that caveat, bringing Konsa on for Gordon* meant you went from 4-2-3-1 to 5-2-2-1, which in practice became 7-3-0-0.
Why not bring on an extra ball winner in midfield? Mainoo or end Hendo for his shouting and experience? Then you can play 4-3-2-1. Achieving an extra bit of protection but also retaining an attacking threat.

It was glaringly obvious that England were going to concede. If Alexis MacAllister hadn't had his Liverpool boots on Argentina would have scored sooner.
Tuchel should have changed it. It just wasnt working. Throw on Watkins or Rashford and leave two up top. Go route one, when you get it, hoof it long and let them/Kane try and hold it up as Argentina commit men forward looking to equalise.

All very easy in hindsight. Everything is.

But then England did about as well as you would have expected. They were ranked fourth in the world and they got to the semi finals. You can make an argument that was helped by FIFA rigging the draw so the top four avoided each other until the semis but England got there anyway.
They also continued their decades old trick of losing the first time they play a decent, top 10 ish in the world, side. I saw someone say they haven't beaten a decent side since France '98, but from memory they lost their first knock out game there thanks to Becks booting Simeone. So, no idea what decent side they beat, they hardly had one in their group.

Still, it beats coming third in your qualifying group, trust me. Some of us don't remember the last time our country qualified….cos it was forty ******* years ago.

* I thought Gordon was utterly appalling the whole time he was on the pitch. He may have scored but that was about the only time he didn't give the ball away, run it up his hole or generally **** it up.
