Any interest in a WC sweepstake?

No money involved, just for a laugh. If you want to play either comment or give this post a thumbs up and I'll sort something out.

It'll probably just be a case of pulling names out of a hat, so no football knowledge is required. Feel free to tag members who don't normally follow football and we'll see how many we can get involved.

There are 48 teams involved, so it may well end up with more than one country per person who signs up, but we'll see.

Ps, if I get England I'm redrawing it! 😉

Sorry I am to busy with moving and packing 🤗
Lol, you do realise a sweepstake literally consists you me giving you one or two countries in the WC and ehh that's it.
Cost is nothing. Time involved is ehhh 5 seconds.
Then gloating rights to the winner……which better not be England or I'm moving to Afghanistan and setting up a lesbian bar!

Fourteen players and 9 days to go.

Two more players gives us sixteen and three teams each. Ten more, optimistic, gives us 24 and two teams each. Beyond that either we have some people with an extra side, or I ignore the worst handful of sides (as per bookies odds) so everyone has the same number. We can decide that closer to the time.

Cool, up to sixteen now. That's three teams each if no one else signs up. Will give until Tuesday night and then close entries and draw teams.

******* more chance of San Marino making it FFS.

Okay, we made the play offs and unsurprisingly, lost away to Italy. We have a population of about 1.8 million, and thanks to the Good Friday Agreement anyone born here is entitled to Irish Citizenship. Meaning most, but not all, players from catholic backgrounds choose to play for the Republic. The population splits roughly 50:50 on religious lines, so our 'true' population is just under a million.

For context, name me an England team made up of players born in Southampton. ……

I asked Google, it gave me

Gk, Bradley Collins (Coventry)
Def, Levi Colwill (Chelsea)
Def, Tyler Cordner ( Ebbsfleet Utd)
Def Matthew Casey (Free)
Def, Luke Hallett (Forest Green)
Mid, Adam May (Forest Green)
Mid, Matt Worthington (yeovil)
Mid, Theo Widdington (Aldershot)
Mid, JJ McKiernan (Lincoln)
Mid, Jack Roles (Woking)
Forward Lukas Jutkiewics ( Birmingham City)

Hardly screams, WC qualification does it?
Obviously, people who had a parent or grandparent born in Southampton would be eligible, so that team isn't entirely accurate, more illustrative. In Europe WC/EC qualification is massively easier if you are a big country. We aint, and our next door neighbour steals half our players.
