Did you used to like putting the wrong figure in a vehicle?

I've mentioned this story before on here as a reply. Now it seems like a good question to put out.

I have a very early memory from around the age of maybe 4-5. My mum had taken me to a toy store in London, and I was able to choose a smaller ship and figure. I chose a snowspeeder, and an AT-AT driver to pilot it. The cashier tried to tell me it was the wrong figure, pointing out the Luke X-Wing, but I was having none of it, to the point of losing my temper. I just thought, as I still do, that robots and anything that looked like one, was much cooler looking than boring good guys.

So anyone else have a similar story? Or did you always like to mix things up, like an ewok piloting the Millennium Falcon, or C-3PO on a Speeder Bike? Any pics?

Yeah I would have done that also sometimes I even used the At-At driver as a good guy. He was one of my favourite figures to play with.
I had the Falcon and many times C3PO would have jumped in the pilots seat! I also remember 21B being pushed over to the the dark side during battles because I thoguht he was a bad guy. I never found out for about 3 years because I hadn't yet seen ESB so was I bit surprised when I saw him patching up Luke.

Yeah always mate, usually as a result of not having the right figure for the vehicle. I didn't have a Luke X-Wing so my Luke farmboy piloted the X-Wing and Snowspeeder. I think my At-At Driver and Tie Pilot must have piloted a lot of things but I do remember only putting my Han and Chewy in the Falcon cockpit. (I've posted this pic before) Here's some evidence, At-At Driver in Scout Walker and Luke FB in X-Wing 8)

Yep for sure definitely with the mini rigs! I grew up in the early 90s so all my star wars was bought at car boot sales so I had no idea what figure went with what vehicle as I had nothing boxed? I did pick up a Carded bib fortuna which lasted about 30 seconds on drive home before it became a complete loose figure :D

Luke FB always flew the X-Wing... oddly I had an X-wing pilot but was convinced it wasn't Luke due to the black hair.. which in later life I realised was the visor!

Yeah I was the same always had the correct figures in ships, but there was one exception and that was Luke Farmboy in a B-Wing or Y-Wing as I never had an X-Wing as a kid. shocking I know.

Funny this as my son now has both Luke Farmboy and a X-Wing, just checked and he's in the X-Wing! He's getting Luke X-Wing for Christmas though. :)

Dunno why but this thread makes me feel queasy. Putting characters in the wrong ships gives me the heeby jeebys. It shouldn't be allowed! It's all wrong!

My favourite figure was Han Bepin so he always got first pick of any ship.

Always made sure my story's always included him getting a ship as a thank you from the rebels -

He definitely owned a captured ATST and was forever flying off in his personal snow speeder and B wing :D

That said though I reckon an Ewok would be well suited to Hoth. Have you ever noticed the majority of the Cantina aliens are water based creatures but live on a desert planet, surely they would be happier on dagoba? Sorry for getting off topic. I remember trying to put hammerhead in the Millennium falcon Cockpit back in the 70s but his feet were too big.

This is something I only realised a few years back myself   don't feel as stupid now thanks :D

Amazing the wife has just got a Luke X-Wing of eBay for our son and she asked me if it was definitely Luke as he has black hair.

I said yeah all their was only one X-Wing pilot and that was Luke! The only reason we call it Luke X-Wing is because it said so on the card, there is nothing about him that looks like Luke.

Yeah baby! The AT-AT Driver in the AT-ST looks super cool. Definitely my favourite figure. Should be a Stormtrooper, but they are too skinny, one bland colour, and not as much detail.

I'd put the wrong character in a ship but usually in context, NOT because I'm a freeform anarchist jazzo. For example - Greedo's stolen the Falcon! That sort of thing. For those of you, though, who really don't like wrong figures in ships, look away now.

I'm impressed at the woman at the checkout, stormcab, for knowing who goes where. Very cool toy shop lady.

My boba Fetts vehicle of choice was the AT-AT. He was so bad ass he could drive it alone.

No way! I was so anal as a kid. I bought figures specifically so I could put them in the correct vehicle. This is the only reason I had the AtAt commander. Quite a boring figure

Question - how did he sit in with his rocket pack? I think I remember having trouble putting him in anything except Slave 1

Got an x-wing, DSD and R5 for my 7th birthday. DSD had to fly the x-wing for a few months until I got LXW. Couldn't close the canopy though as his arms wouldn't fit inside

Ps- always thought LXW's visor was his hair as well...
