darth for sale

Hey all
I saw this up for grabs, the thing is the stars seem aligned okay, but the top of star wars seems close to the punchhole...am i being paranoid or is this the real thing

apart from the writing being near to the punch hole, any other tell tale signs from these 2 pics....sorry thats all i have to go on..

Colours are off, font on the nameplate is wrong, punch is wrong, bubble is wrong and placed too high, bottom of the card is too long (racetrack should be lower). It's just all kinds of wrong

I think that looks like the same figure on e-bay at the minute. In fairness to the seller they also do state it's not original.

thats exactly what i thought and then saw one with the font out of place sell for silly money..
chap was selling it here in japan and decided to walk away after the help from members here. There will be other opportunities..

At least you are now sure about it before buying. Its better to check if not sure. That figure in your picture I am sure that's the same one one that was on e-bay yesterday for sale and it had a buy it now. It was finishing about 2 hrs after I spotted it around 2pm. I didn't know how to put the link up maybe you can find it and check it out yourself.
It was listed in Durham I think or something similar did you see the card in your picture for yourself or did the guy send you pictures. Just be careful if he told you it's in Japan I think it's in the uk.
It had the same little indent on it in middle of card and the pictures wer exactly the same as the ones he sent you that was on e-bay.

This place and the folk on it are awesome.

Yes those do look the same pictures that wer on e-bay on Sunday. It was the little indent under the V on vader and the little pop out at top that caught my eye. I had just looked at the thread you had up just before I went on e-bay.
I presumed it was on e-bay you wer also looking when you found it. If I had known I could have saved it so you could see it for yourself. It was a buy it now for £45.00 and starting bid at £20-25 I think. How much is 20 000 yen ?
I had searched 'vintage carded starwars' on e-bay if I can remember or something similar.
I have no idea if it sold because the seller did state it wasn't original so I never looked much more at it.
It looks like the shop out your way has also spotted it and put it up for sale on their site.
Luckily you got help here and never bought it. The shop would just have past it on to you after buying it from over here.
From you now showing me it listed on a different site that really makes me more weary of buying items of the web on other sites.
I will try and see if I can find it for you on e-bay again tonight so you can see it.

I have managed to find that listing that was on e-bay. It looks like the same carded figure when I look at it again but i could be mistaken. Someone else who is familiar with these figures would know better.
The seller on e-bay is stating that it's reproduction card and cape and it's in the uk.
I don't know how to get the link up so you can see it for yourself.
How do I put it up? Or if anyone else knows. It looks like the shop in Japan may have used the pictures or maybe it's the same seller just selling it on different sites and that's what you found.
I will try to put it up for you when i get home but it doesn't seem to be working.

If I knew how to put the link up then Rob would know if it is the same figure he was looking at.
In fairness to the sellers, the uk seller is honest about the figure. It could possibly be the same seller on the Japanese site. I was trying to read it and I don't think they claim it's original either.

The seller here in japan covered themselves by saying they dont know much about it..
its a recycle shop ...start price was 150 quid equivalent..
maybe this spanish seller? it would take too long to arrive here so maybe one they already have..

a guy 3weeks ago sold a set of 13 harbert 12 backs inclu jawa vinyl cape..
i listed an afa graded harbert darth, trying to tell people the others were all fake and what to look for..
guy cleaned up and took about 8grand in..

Have a check if this is the same figure Rob, maybe you can get it to work.

1. Advanced search ebay
Click on eBay search : Advanced search

2.under find items type
"Vintage carded starwars figures"

3. Just below search tick the completed listings box and hit search. There should be 50 results on each page and 27 pages in total.

4. On page 6 of 27 the fourth figure from the bottom.

Is that the same figure you wer looking at? It looks like the same figure listed in the UK and sold for £26.00. It seems to have that same little mark under the "V"
Sure you can let me know if you found it.

sadly there has been a huge flux of fakes recently coming up for sale here...

It was sold in June, so I`m guessing the buyer has tried to switch it here in Japan hoping someone with no idea will snap it up...

Glad you found it that was the same figure on e-bay on Sunday also. I didn't know it also sold in June it must have been moved on. It just shows have much these things move around. It's hard to know if the shop in Japan knew it was a fake or not. I wouldn't have known what to look for in a fake only for the help from Joe pointing out the telltale signs.
