My Complete Figure Collection

Hi Everybody,

I was 7 when Star Wars came out in 1977 and I was hooked immediately. I loved the film, but I found out that I loved collecting just as much. So collecting all the figures became my first real obsession.
I'm sure many of you have similar stories.

Eventually I fell in love with music and collecting every Smiths 7" and 12" became my new love.

Since then both collections have lived in my parent's loft, whilst I travelled and moved around.

Having just bought a very expensive Fender Telecaster, so the time has come to finally sell my collections.

As I completed the entire figure collection, I would like to keep it together, so I would prefer to sell it as an entire collection.
I'm sure that this would pay less than separate sales, but I suppose I'm still sentimentally attached to it all.

How much do you think it would be worth?
And where best to sell it?

One thing though, I can't find the box with all the weapons!!! So most of the weapons are currently missing.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for your time!

Chris

Hi Chris, great collection you have there! As is you have hundreds of pounds worth already, but you need to find that box of weapons - I'm afraid in many cases they are worth more than the figures. You're easily talking £1000+ if you can find all the weapons. Without them, maybe only a few hundred. But you have a few figures worth a good amount individually, such as the complete Luke farmboy with sabre.

Hi,

Thank you for replying so quickly and thanks for the info.

Yes, I need to find that box!
There were all put in an old tobacco tin for safe keeping.
I'll get back in the loft and will do some searching!

Thanks again,

Chris

Edd is spot on, find the weapons and unlock the cash if that is your motivator... I would though suggest you think long and hard about selling your toys you've kept all this time as you will never get them back. Maybe sell a few of the duplicates and the cardbacks to fund the weapon purchases if you do choose to keep and collect a set... 8)

Agree with the above - you can buy them back in future, but they won't be your ones. I only have four of my original childhood figures, and despite the fact they are pretty much worthless they are my favourite things! So if a few hundred quid isn't going to make that much difference, put them away again.

Sound advice from Steve and Edd there! There are people on here that would kill to have their original figures still, I say give it some thought and don't rush into selling them if you don't particularly need the cash. You can get a display cabinet for £40 from Ikea.. ;)
