Hi Guys
I recently purchased a minty stormtrooper on ebay and I immediately noticed it was different from my others. When held up to the light its torso is sort of see through as if the plastic is not as dense as other figures
I am not that clued up on the different variations like many of you chaps but I was wondering if you guys had any ideas ?
My poor eyes tell me the stamp says C GMFGI HONG KONG
Thanks

I've never seen one before like that. Isn't he a little short to be a Stormtrooper.

I've heard the phrase "hard torso" Stormtrooper many times but never really knew what it meant. Perhaps this is what it is. Maybe regular stormtroopers have a hollow body and so let light through as yours does on the left. And "hard torso" Troopers have a more solid body and so don't.

I'm sure someone more knowledgable than myself can clear this one up.

I've seen this before, it's the later, or even last issued ROTJ/Tri Logo carded trooper, the plastic on some of them was really quite thin.

The hard torso's tend to be the PBP troopers, and the earlier troopers tended to have better grade plastic/sculpt detail.

There are two different kind of "hard torso" stormies,
the one with hard torso and hard limbs is the PBP, with no coo if I remember
correctly, the one with only hard torso is not exclusive to PBP.
Been a long time since I was into variants, so please correct me if I'm wrong,
I bet walkie and greg have more info.
Also, you should check out the thread on poontroopers if you are in doubt,
there are fake troopers out there...

Oh and trilogo stormies all have the pointy legs, I have a loose one like the one in question, and it has a wider stance, torso is hard, almost translucent white, definitely not a trilogo one.
Also, check the coo guide on TIG.

I have one of these and as someone else said I believe them to be later release also, the figure should have a three line hk coo

I agree, hard torso is PBP but can also be found on not PBP figures

How many lines does the poontroopers have ? Because if I remember correct they are also stamped Hong Kong 1977 :?

the one on the left in the last picture i had one of those when i was a kid and always thought it was a bit fake looking? long gone now though, are they worth much?
