Been offered a load of stuff this morning. It's a big collection but I'm unsure about a couple of items. Need some help identifying what's missing and how much they are worth on the cantina and Death Star.

Hi,

So the Death Star looks to be fairly complete with just one clip missing (these come in two pieces) and the two guns for the top gun part. Also this set came with 5 or 6 clear plastic stands and the instructions. The clear canopy cover is a big plus with this set as one in that condition could cost between 50-100 GBP loose  . There does seemed to be a few tears to it and the the classic rip to the part that folds to make one of the floors and struts (bit hard to explain that part but you normally see this part ripped and mended with tape).

As for price it's hard to say although in this condition and near complete could go for around 150-200 GBP. He's some sold listings to give you an idea of price and also what's in there (look at the instructions) -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=palitoy+death+star&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc

You could also look at completed sales on ebay to see what didn't sale and remember these always go for more with the box in any condition.

The Cantina looks to be nearly all there except the yellow stands (can't remember how many as my one I was bought as a child from my local toy shop had some things missing from it  , maybe 3-4?), the fighting stand (two stands joined together) and instructions. It looks to be in good shape and without a box goes for around 60-90 although I'd probably want it for somewhere around 40. Here's another sold listings for it -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=palitoy+death+star&LH_Complete=1&_from=R40&LH_Sold=1&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR3.TRC2.A0.H0.Xpalitoy+cantina&_nkw=palitoy+cantina&_sacat=0

Just my thoughts but hopefully this will be of some help.

Thanks Iain. I had been looking at the eBay ended items but wasn't sure how complete they both are.

Are the 2 guns Xwing cannons? They look very similar?

They are but they are a different colour to the x wing I think. We were talking about these in a podcast. Rich got one in the palitoy time capsule which he looks to have paid around £200 for. I think savoury 100 got a boxed one at the same time. Rich'a one was missing a clip and 4 stands and the canopy was really good. They yellow and snap like motherfuckers.

I've often wondered this as I've yet to take a close look at them up to the X-wing ones.

I've automatically always thought they were the same and this is the first I've heard of them being a different colour so it would be good to know if anyone has both these items if there's any difference.

Tbh if it's crystal clear its 99.9% a repro :? I have seen unused shop stock Death Stars with orange colour canopys! The best canopy I have ever seen was in a boxed DS that had been stored in the loft for over 30 years and that one had a slight tinge.
I don't believe there r any other tale tell signs on the piece itself to tell its a repro or genuine-as far as I am aware anyway :!:

Hi the canopy death star guns are the original ones used for the x-wing fighter.

Here's TIG's write up on the canopy's, just scroll down -

I have seen a few clear ones recently, one from the Star Wars time capsule picked up a couple of months back and one I have (slightest yellow tinge). It's hard to say from the pictures if there's any yellowing to it but I'm thinking it would be doubtful (maybe not impossible?), of being original if it's as clear as the repro one in TIG's list.

Just to let you know Ian, I have not forgotten about the vcj coo. Been a bit hectic of late but I will sort it for you. The jawa isn't going anywhere so don't worry but I will sort it. If you are ever at a farthest from let me know and I will bring it for you to look at.

I think the canopy in the time capsule still had a very slight suggestion of aging hue. Rich will probably chip in soon.

Happy days I got them both, plus a load of complete figures (mostly the first 21 and a few empire figures) 4 minty die cast Vehicles, a minty white TIE and an Xwing. He had been speaking to Astons but we managed to strike a deal we were both happy with.

This was the guys childhood collection and his pride and joy. He had his teenage son with him and said when his son was younger they had set up the Death Star a couple of times. I'll post some photos in the LA when I have a moment. I'm looking to move some of it on.

Ps the canopy is clear with on a tiny bit of yellowing on one edge. :)

Great news! :D

Sounds like the canopy is all in the clear (well not quite so to speak  ), and hopefully you got a good deal on it all. Look forward to seeing those pics and you should be able to pick up the missing parts given a little time.

Thanks for mentioning the Jawa coo. It's the one figure that would be great to see and just send it on once you get the chance.

Thanks again :D

Dan, if your going to sell the loose die cast and they are in good nick then I will be interested. Bear me in mind. I'm not going to send you loads of pms. I will wait till you are ready to sell and if you want to get in touch that would be cool.
