Really sad news to see today. I spoke to James on and off for years, we used to talk about Trilogos and he put together an incredible collection. Had the pleasure of meeting him at Farthest from and Celebration. Always had a smile, genuine big kid who gave more to collecting than most. Still...

:lol: Nice purchases guys, I went through a few pages just now and it's nice to see so many people still putting their pictures up here. One criticism though, it's 2018...and your photos are all still out of focus and upside down :lol: It's like looking at an AussieJames limelight! :mrgreen:

Well done Laurence, a very conclusive and damning thread. You've given up your own time to provide incredible research that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that these fakes are in circulation, have been for quite some time and sadly the majority come from the same source. I wish I could say...

Sorry, rather badly worded on my part: "Beginning to be phased out" would be more accurate. They were introduced in 1984 but hadn't taken over at that point, not really until 1985.

Yes they would have been Trilogos, all other carded packaging styles across Europe were phased out in 1984 in favour of the multi lingual Trilogo card. UK Shipping assortments from the early ROTJ period show that Palitoy (and in turn Clipper) routinely received US Kenner carded action figures...

Usually but not always. Sometimes to demonstrate an idea or a mechanism designers would just use what was on hand at the time. Kit bashed prototypes using parts from other toy lines is a good example of that kind of thing but they were also routinely sent large amounts of first shots and...

I'll await the photos but if I'm honest it would take a lot more than a price sticker to convince me otherwise at this point. I've not been around as long as some but in the last 15 years I've never once seen any POTF carded in childhood photos, never seen any price sticker evidence before now...

Although we did receive a certain amount of US stock, POTF carded figures with coins were definitely never sold at retail in Europe. Memories are just memories and are never enough to confirm anything in this hobby. Any US POTF figures found on this side of the pond would have come from toy...
