Getting a lot of responses about my loft find of promotional items from the Palitoy Command Satellite.
If memory serves it was a display area in Toy Shops promoting the first or second wave of ROTJ figures. It consisted of a couple of domed displays of figures and playsets (Jabba's Palace and Ewok Village) and a TV running Palitoy commercials on a loop.
I remember visiting the one in Watford or Brent Cross as it was closing and cheekily asking the manager of the shop if I could have the poster. I managed to nab a banner and some scratch cards as well.
Does anyone else have any memories of the Command Satellite?
I'm posting images of the posters and scratch cards I have plus some scans of photos I took way back then.

Wow!!!

These are amazing, never seen the posters and some of your other items before. Keep looking in that loft and I'm looking forward to seeing what else you may find!

These, and some of the other items you've posted, are exceedingly rare and worth a LOT of money. I'm sure you've already received private messages about them but I'd recommend that if you're minded to sell, you either get them properly valued first, or sell at auction, to get best value.

Thanks for sharing these!

Great to see these 'Command Satellite' items - I think these have some significance from a historical perspective for Palitoy and as far as I'm aware they are the only ones in existence (maybe someone will come on and say they 'turn up from time to time' but I doubt it!). Helps that they also look pristine, great condition. Be interested to know your intentions as are others i'm sure...

Thanks for sharing - brilliant to see something new!

Fantastic stuff.

I remember one of these in John Menzies in Argyll Street, Glasgow. I remeber that one day it was accompanied by a very lonely Darth Vader that nobody except passers-by seemed to know about. I'm guessing 1984 or even early 1985 but I suppose the date of that issue of ROTJ weekly is where the truth lies.

Are those your scans, Andy? Do you have a date for the comic?

One of the scans, the one with the text, is mine - the others I think were from Dave Tree's Palitoy archive page (and appear to be taken from the same comic).

I don't have a date for the comic, but the Fan Club newsletter is from Summer / Autumn 1984.

Originally these were posted up by Dave Tree and can be found here:

Thank you to all who have messaged me congratulating me on my poster find. I honestly thought they were a dime a dozen. Just shows you never can tell. To all those enquiring about me selling it, it won't be happening yet. I'm moving everything to storage in preparation of it all being valued. Rest assured I will announce on here if/when I sell anything.
