The rather grandly named 'Jabba the Hutt Action Playset' this week, Lars? OK then!

This set may not quite meet the same definition of a 'playset' as the 'Cantina' or 'Land of the Jawas' (although it kicks the sorry ass of the piss-poor 'Cloud City' and 'Cantina Adventure Set'), but this is still a fun item with lots of play value, plus it was the only way to get your hands on the vile gangster that was Jabba himself, back in the 80's. Also, as an added bonus you got Salacious Crumb and a (massively) cut-down Rancor 'pit' :D

It was a neat idea of Kenner's to combine Jabba's dais with the gates to the Rancor pit (even if it didn't really make a lick of sense when you stopped to think about it!), and the result was a really fun toy that kids (and big kids ;-)) could enjoy.

Anyway, here's mine:

Beautiful set you have, what is going on with the bilogo instruction for the kenner set ? :?

I think the set is fantastic, ok it could be better, it was my only set when I was a kid and I played a lot with it, to me when I was a kid it was a ****ing cool set that saw many hours of playing. ok the rancor pit was wrong but for kids I think it was cool, as a kid I never saw it as a rancor pit, more like a little prison under jabba

Thanks, Lars. Sorry, I should have made it clear that I was showing a set of Jabba instructions that I have, not that they were the ones which came with this particular set. Sadly this set came with no inner packaging or instructions when I bought it in the 90's, however I managed to buy a set of bi-logo instructions later, so I thought I would show them here since some people might still like to see them :)

Fantastic stuff! And I also see that the Rebo Band appears to be playing on top of a record player, which seems most appropriate! :-D

No problem mate, I just thought maybe yours was packed and sold with the wrong instruction in the good old days  cool that you managed to buy a set of bilogo instructions. I guess today there are not such things as lots with only instructions for sale :? I remember I bought a few lots in the early 00 only with instructions and commercial catalogs for a few $

Great stuff, Lars! You have a fine collection of Jabbas, and it's great that you also have the inner packaging. I wish mine did, so at some stage I would like to upgrade mine to a better, more complete one.

Thanks for sharing your collection :)

Thanks mate, all different coo variants :D yes one of the inner packagings I found in another box so I took the inner packaging and added to one of my own boxes and sold the box that I took it from. Later I found a 4th coo variant and now I miss a box for that set

Sound like a great idea to upgrade the set with inner packaging, I don't think a box with inner packaging is so expensive. I wish I could help :(

Nice Jabbas guys!

I never had this as a kid, but for some reason I'm really attracted to the Sears 'line art' box version - it's on my list of things I'd like nut I've still not snagged an reasonably priced one.

This is one of my all time favourite playsets (beneath the Ewok Village).
I loved it as a kid, the playvalue was immeasurable.
The Jabba playset is one of my earliest childhood Star Wars memories, when I visited my grandparents in Hamburg.
When I arrive, the playset was already put on my bed ... just for no special reason. No birthday or sth. like that. One of the biggest surprises I was ever made.

So this was one of the first I needed to have as an adult collector, also was able to get my hand on the line-art version.

Me and my grandma - the only picture I have from my childhood with Star Wars toys to be seen.
My two favourite toys at this time: Jabba Playset and the Ewok Village
