i seem to recall a member bought a beater pruneface Hong Kong COO last year and it was confirmed as a pre production figure

have any you boys found something special that wasnt advertised as such?

i dream of going through a box of beaters and finding test shots or first shots.

I have with action man. There was a storage unit contents advertised on eBay with a prototype hiding at the back of photos. A fellow action man collector spotted it and I was lucky enough to win the lot. A good score

Here he is. He may not look much but he's made from hand made moulds to test the build of the late 70s change in design to the blue pants figure. The green pants were he give away

He may never have had a head but he has lost a foot. The foot design was changed for he production figure so I'm unlikely to find a spare

This was my best find, not a prototype but pretty rare.

I've never uncovered any prototype level stuff, but it always give me a bit of a buzz when I find one or two original blasters rattling around inside a broken, beaten Snowspeeder or AT-AT. And also managed to find a couple of rare figure variants in job lots a few times.

Back in 2015 picked up this lot for £50, had a hollow tube Tusken Raider, PBP Luke Bespin and Lumat and Paploo.

That's well cool. You should stick a photo of your AM collection in the other Vintage collections thread Andy, would love to see that! Been looking at a lot of AM lately.

Thanks Andy, there's a few of my in the wild photos in there but I will have to post a group photo.

This is mine. Not prototype but pretty cool for danish collectors/vehicle box variant/speeder bike fans.

I saw this (really poorly) worded auction on vectis.

The Danish sticker described in the auction piqued my interest, so I put a bid in. It was reasonable but I got the lot for £60. This is what the sticker was:

The sticker was shop appplied, and was basically a guarantee seal that the goods were untouched, and the toy could be returned to the shop if it was not broken. These had been found on motu toys and such like, but had never been found on Star Wars, until this got sold.

Stupid thing is, it came from another collection, so someone knew about it. Certainly vectis did.

For the £60 plus fees I paid, and given the other boxed speeder and loose speeder that I sold, means I got it for free :)

Brilliant stuff! Carl, eagle eyes indeed 8)

I found a prototype Action Force Triad Fighter pod in a massive job lot I was buying from the son of an ex Palitoy employee. It was made of metal and had hand drawn decals. I told him to keep it to remember his Dad by. Hope he still has it!
