Does anyone know when I could find clear high res images of the cardbacks? I want to recard original figures for my display. I bought a set from an eBay seller in Spain and I am not happy with the images. Not great quality at all.
I have mocked up the template myself for he logo and the racetrack and it's perfect, but getting high res images of the character image isn't easy. Does anyone know? I am happy to pay. TIA.

You won't get any love asking people to help you make repros I'm afraid. If you'd have asked first, you'd have been advised to stay away from costa Blanca Star Wars (or what ever he trades as now), his products are shoddy and he's a bit of a twat.

Why don't you collect some original card backs and display them with your figures? GW acrylic do some great cases

It's only to display my own collection. I'm not looking for fool anyone. I just think it'll make for an awesome box frame. Is that really frowned up by everyone? Don't want to cause offence.
I am surprised how poor the quality is from the guy from spain. Especially when he claims they are 100% identical.

Btw thanks for the acrylic suggestion. That's another option.

You won't find any reproduction that's anywhere near as good as the real thing. You can't reproduce the litho print effect with a home printer, and also as you've found without the original artwork (not scans) the images will always look poor.

You can find genuine used cardbacks for most figures under for £10, have a chat with mr_palitoy I'm sure he could sort you out :)

Defo search out the original card backs. Even if they are a bit damaged, they will without fail always look better than repro in terms of clarity.

What I have seen others do is scan the original card and then cover over the damaged part with a fresh printed bit. Mostly around the bubble area obviously and that looks ok. But it's honestly not worth the hassle. A used Card back in a Acrylic case - looks great

Thanks for the info. I might look into some used cardbacks. Is it hard to get ones that aren't badly ripped up though?

I collect cardbacks that are in good condition, have a few that are un-ripped where the bubble has been neatly cut off. They look great. Even some that have been pulled off can be found with minimal damage. It's finding the ones with a rectangle grey bit just where the bubble was. With a little patience you'll find some, they do come along every now and then. Much much better than fakes. Just display your figure with it, no need to dick around with the card resealing etc.

Have a search on eBay for cut bubble card backs. You will find a few good sellers ( Forest Cutter being one )

At a push you can get a cut bubble card back and an New adhesive bubble and stick it over the existing plastic edges this should ensure no damage to the paper on the card and create an ok display option.

I am pretty sure I have a cardback like this I bought on eBay. I will see if I can dig out.

Here is an example of what you can pick up very cheaply.
£2 from eBay including the postage.
I don't have a Bib to put in front of it but hopefully you get the idea of what can be achieved inexpensively and without going down the reproduction route.

In recent years, carded figures were destroyed by grading companies for 'collectors' that wanted high grade figures. The grading companies slit the cards carefully leaving the seal on the card. They are easy to spot and often come up on eBay for sale.

I can't believe any educated collector would do that to get a graded loose figure :(
Let alone a company that is supposed to be grading/conserving a collectable. :?
When did this pathetic practice start?

Yes, people choosing to damage their own property is one (very stupid) thing, but you might have expected a company which brands itself the 'Action Figure Authority' to have more respect for the very things they name themselves after... Why, it's almost as if they were solely interested in making money from collectors and absolutely nothing else! ;-)

Try Kenner by King on Etsy. His card backs are great quality. I much prefer them to a shitty tore up old card back. They look much nicer to display. Who cares if it is not original if you are not trying to scam anyone? I'm sorry, but for those of us who are not independently wealthy repro card backs are a great option.

A shitty old tore up card back is an original piece of SW collecting and there is no way a repro can compare to a genuine vintage collector all about what the individual wants in their collection but for a genuine vintage collector the authenticity and originality is key, it's about it being printed and produced in 1977 not about how technology can reproduce it today, even if the reproduction is spot on it's not original, thats still key for vintage collectors, nothing wrong with collector s who are happy with repro that's all good if that's what they want, but to a seasoned vintage collector it won't wash
