Hey My name is Lee (ElJawa). I dont post here much im on TIG more...
I am currently in London and have a few days off. If anyone has recommendations of cool stores or markets to check out id love any help. If someone want to have lunch or show off their collection Id be super stoked. Just looking to meet some collectors or get some tips.
I will also be going to Germany, Netherlands and Finland. Again any tips or help finding shops or markets to browse. Or meet up and chat. I spend a lot of time in Germany and would love to make some friends there.
I am a comedian on tour and would offer free tix if someone is interested.
I am also going to Tunisia. Yes i know but im going.

You can reply or pm me. Thanks.

Merged both your posts as they are pretty much identical bar the extra detail in the latter. I suspect will you get more (if any) responses to your first title.

Hi Lee, there is pretty much zero worth visiting in London Star Wars wise. You could hop on a one hour train to Brighton and visit Snooper's Paradise, that is one of the few physical shops I can think of that has a half-decent stock of vintage MOCs and loose figures (but don't expect eBay variety!)

There are 2 cabinets in Snoopers Paradise that have vintage goodies. One is owned by a guy called Tim and he's a member here.. currently has a selection of loose figs, a few common ROTJ carded figs and a few boxed vehicles.. the other cabinet is owned by ToyToni (from the infamous Palitoy fraud). Mostly cracked bubble stuff is his cabinet at the moment.

You're right but actually I've popped in a few times recently and he's currently selling fairly decent Kenner MOCs in there, some main characters on Jedi cards in good condition without cracked bubbles. There was a Leia Bespin, Han Trenchcoat and IG-88 in there a week or so ago. They are selling as the stock has changed over the last month. None of his nice trilogos in there yet though, or of course his Palitoy TOCs!

Toni also had some figures in comic bags with their backing cards (loose with no weapons) as well as a U graded IG88 for £45.

The flea market itself is well worth having a good look around. There are usually other odds and ends of vintage star wars in other cabinets but only the two guys specialise in these. There are a load of other vintage toy lines around as well as vintage video games, plus loads of other random stuff.

There is a pretty good shop that sells tshirts next door as well called Boy Parker if thats your thing, as well as a couple of comic shops (Daves Book Exchange) round the corner and another flea market (no vintage star wars though). There was a guy called Adrian Gumbrell who used to own a shop called Jabbas Hut in the downstairs of the old jubilee shopping hall, now Komedia. He had a superb selection of all things star wars. This was in the mid nineties. He sadly fell down the stairs of his shop and died.

There is another shop that Pig City once mentioned before he departed, somewhere near the level but I have never been there. I think he is quite expensive.

Infact, spend sometime in brighton. Its one of the best cities in the uk.

Stay well clear of Toni and his wares. He deserves no further business from any vintage star wars collector for the damage he has done to the hobby.

Off topic but I don't see the issue with buying from him personally - he's never going to admit to anything therefore it is all speculation. Agree about the TOCs obviously, would be nice to see him sell the backing cards. He's already made his money so sulking about it isn't going to help us, I'd rather see his hoard of nice authentic MOCs in collectors hands than sitting in his garden shed.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just interested in Vintage Star Wars. Dont care if i buy just fun to look.
Sad London doesnt seem to have much. Ill check out Camden market.
If i can lll take trip up Brighton.

I have no desire to give fat toni one penny. I do see a problem with giving him money. I dont like supporting businesses with questionable moral judgments. BUT PLEASE I dont want to start a TT discussion here. But it seems the community is still hurt by this guy.

Thanks for the tips, and if theres anymore keep them coming. I got time to kill in this town.
Cheers everyone

Well, people claim they care about animal welfare yet still eat KFC and wear leather shoes. We're all hypocrites to some extent! I can totally see why people who have been burned wouldn't deal with him again but none of us are 'holier than thou.'

Anyway as said before sorry for going off topic, and enjoy your trip! Sadly I can't think of anything other than Camden market in London. If you want to admire vintage toys in a shop, Toni's stall in Brighton is one of the only near London.

I dont want to go off topic either but i feel compelled to reply to this. Ive been a vegetarian since 1998 and it had not really much to do with loving animals. I said I dont like to buy from... not that i am perfect. Not Holier than thou just trying to be a smarter consumer... If i can avoid giving my money to a jerk then i will.

I do thank you for for the shopping advice.

I just want to go shopping for toys. any advice on where or cool person to talk to about collecting over a beer would be great.

Thanks batman for the Netherlands advice. And everyone else for their help too.
Ill google the Cinema shop, thanks.

The cinema shop too but I can never remember where it is. I often just walk passed the place without realising where I am.

It's opposite stringfellows, just around the corner from leicester square and a few doors round from orbital comics. both have very little vintage figures and way overpriced!

tread carefully with the staff, ive had run ins with them in both stores, they think there experts but dont have a clue what there doing!

there use to be a very nice american bloke that worked in stage and screen in notting hill gate (shop no longer there now) but i always had good chats with him about vintage star wars and his figures werent badly priced either, picked up a yak for £65 about 2004.

I posted this before but couldnt see it anywhere (apologies if I've posted the same thing in a random thread).

There is a guy on Greenwich Market who has a few vintage bits - lots of reseals/recards too. I'm not sure which day he is there, but defintiely not thursday-sunday - maybe Tuesday. Its not worth a trip to Greenwich to see this stall, but its a cool place and worth a look anyway - just take the stall as a bonus!

I visited the 'big smoke' over the weekend.
I went to Camden Market and saw that stall, don't go early though I think he only opens in the afternoon.

I went to the Victoria & Albert Museum Of Childhood to get my Vintage kick

I took some photos on my phone but I'm useless on computers and can't get them to load.
It's well worth a visit as there's some other good stuff in there to jog the memory banks.

I can recommend that shop in Amsterdam as well
