Darth Vader helmet

I brought this helmet from ebay about 3 years ago from America it was owned at one point by a reasonable famous film writer.
It was sold to me as a prototype but really not sure thats the case, Just wondered if anyone could give there advice on what they think it is??

are there any markings on the inside of the helmet top piece ?
looks similar to the Don Post helmet

I have just had a look on the Internet at Don Post helmets and I see what you are saying, my Vader helmet is a one piece fibre glass helmet.

In which case provenance is the key, any facts you can find about the helmet in regard to being a prototype ( who made it, as a prototype for what, was it used in conjunction with any of the SWFilms etc)
the fun is in the research …you never know what may result, good luck
