Vintage or Repro Admiral Ackbar Staff?

    Thanks Snaketibe! :)

Vintage or Repro Admiral Ackbar Staff?

Got a replacement Ackbar Staff from the seller today. Looks like it's a version1 Taiwan type. I think it's genuine and it floats without any issues. It seems to have one less injection mark on the side, but the texture looks like an original. I'm not aware that there are repro versions of the...

Vintage or Repro Admiral Ackbar Staff?

Thanks Snaketibe. I have been in touch with the seller and he seems to be understanding and willing to put it right. We'll wait and see. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt in that he thought that he had the genuine item and listed it as such. Luckily, I didn't spend too much money on the...

Vintage or Repro Admiral Ackbar Staff?

Thanks for the replies guys. Yes, I'm leaning heavily towards it being repro now. Does the V2 original have round injection mold marks in it? Again, the one I have has none present. I'm guessing that an original would bend, but not snap, but a repro would bend and then snap?

Vintage or Repro Admiral Ackbar Staff?

This one appears to float only when gently placed on the water. If I push it, it will sink. It also feels that it might snap if I bend it too much. I haven't come across a vintage weapon that will seem to snap in the same way.

Vintage or Repro Admiral Ackbar Staff?

I just purchased this Admiral Ackbar Staff with the figure itself on a well known FB group here in the UK. The staff was listed as original, but in hand I'm not so sure. Could some of the experts here chime in? I looked up TIG and it looks closest to a V2, but when I place it in water, it does...

    RIP Peter Mayhew!

Devastating news to hear the passing of the mighty Peter Mayhew! Had the honour of briefly meeting him and getting his autograph in Chicago last month. He is and always will be Chewbacca!

    Earliest Vintage SW Memories

I also seem to recall being really upset back in 1983 just before ROTJ was released because there was a playground rumour circulating around that Han Solo was going to die and the Millennium Falcon was going to blow up! I don't know how rumours like this spread so much before the...

    Earliest Vintage SW Memories

Speaking of Star Wars on the TV and home video, I'm pretty sure it was the one of the first, if not the first thing i ever so on a video cassette. I think it came out on video in 82 and then on TV in 1984 if I'm not mistaken. And I definitely saw ROTJ before ESB! LOL! Seeing and listening to...

I thought you didn't wish to communicate Chris!!!? Gotta get the last snarky comment in, don't you!? Well, you know what, i'm in a rather good mood today and want to keep it that way. So'll let your ego stay intact, let you have the final snarky remark and cease this futile and childish...

    Reproduction Weapons

Yes, but my point is that most collectors still define a loose figure with a loose original weapon as complete!!!!! I think you are the one who should seek help! Help with controlling your ego and manners! If you are not capable of conducting a civil discussion without resorting to...

Very mature! :? I don't particularly care to communicate further with you either as you come across as extremely self righteous and rude!

    Reproduction Weapons

So what about collectors like Toy Polloi who do highlight repro in their collection, but who only use it for army building? Are we to lump everyone in the same boat and say they are all lazy and detremental to the hobby? It's people like Toy Polloi who are a credit to the hobby and inject energy...

    Reproduction Weapons

No...! I think your own point has completely gone over your own head, sir! Firstly, the factory NEVER decided what a 'complete' figure was or is. Why the hell would they care! But lets take your contention that the factory has decided many years ago what is a complete figure as a 'fact' for...

MTV-7 and other mini rig COO's/markings?

Ok, cool, thanks for the info tobeshadow. :) Seems to have been a common omission on the MTV 7 and some other minirigs then. Still happy that I got it for 50p though!

    Earliest Vintage SW Memories

Apologies if this topic has been posted before (probably has!), but I was just wondering what the earliest memories that people here have on collecting SW figures as a kid. From my very vague memory, I think my first carded figure was an Empire Hoth Luke. I also remember my mother bringing me...

    Reproduction Weapons

Who exactly is it that is advocating selling repro here or on the FB forums? I'm certainly not. But I don't think we can shoot down anyone who simply has an opinion on the matter of repro! There are also many collectors who love Original Star Wars toys who do want it. Just a fact of collecting...
