The Vintage Rebellion return to the usual format after their extended edition last month, in fact this episode doesn't even last 5 hours!

Matt Fox joins Stuart and Grant for this months focus interview as he discusses his 'May the Toys Be With You' exhibition and we take an in depth look at poster collecting and the UK poster release.

Yehuda Kleinman joins Rich during Rebel Briefings to discuss Yupi, whilst Stuart and Pete welcome Laurence Dyer and Simon McOwan back to chat about the Palitoy Factory Tour that Laurence arranged earlier this month.

Clint Garness joins Grant for this months 'Beyond the Toys' section as they look at collecting in Canada.

Jez looks at some stunning acquisitions during this months 'Newest Acquisitions' including a Lili Ledy Imperial Commander, Ross Barr's 32 back Han Solo and Micro collection amongst many other beautiful pieces.

Pete's Market takes a look at the recent Vectis auction whilst he also welcomes Andrew Norton to discuss the Micro Collection after touching on it during the newest acquisitions.

Of course we have the usual banter, drivel and fun in the 31st edition of The Vintage Rebellion.

21st Century Fox - love it! But you know what, I would have preferred the 20th Century Fox fanfare over the intro theme you gave me... :D

Thanks for having me on, that was a real privilege and a great conversation. I'm already looking forward to the next episode and hope you boys might break the vintage rule and give us a good discussion of Rogue One.

I feel like I say this every time you put out a show, but I want to thank you guys so much for all the hard work that you put into each and every show. Each time I hear you guys, it makes me feel like I am hanging out with a bunch of collecting friends, which helps fill in the gaps between the times that I actually get to hang with collecting friends in person.

I appreciate each and every episode. Happy holidays and all the best in 2017, lads. :D

Barely an hour into this and enjoying it immensely as always. Particularly enjoyed the interview with Yehuda about the Columbian figures and great to hear some appreciation for HC Ford stuff! All the love is for Helix and I think the Ford items are shunned because there are more of them. His enthusiasm for the line really came through which was refreshing. Family Fortunes was brilliant fun. I would have got 9/10 but Vader would have thrown me. And fair play to having a pop at Vectis. It's absolutely not good enough and although there are individual members of staff there who go out of their way to look after buyers (Kathy for one but there are a couple more who's names escape me) the overall feeling is they don't need to bother. The state of their software is disgraceful and the attitude when it ****s up and lets buyers down is it's the customer's fault. Getting angry as I type that so I'll shut up now.

Great show and thanks for all your hard work in 2016. Here's to breaking 100 hours of podcasts in a year in 2017! :D

Just started listening, looking forward to getting through it over the break. As usual fun quiz to get things started. I was interested to see what Star Wars Tracker would say about the most common MOC tri-logos. Below is ungraded items over the last year. Pretty much inline with the quiz answers.

Just listened to this segment. With regards to Vectis being able to build a new web-auction site for 20-30K, I think it would be more like 100K+ to be honest, plus the on-going maintenance of it which may increase with a new system. If they are incorporating a third party bid-feed from Invaluable (and it would seem like they are), then there are integration costs against that software system too to ensure continuity of service.

So what does that all mean? Their business seems to be doing well -- they are making sales and running successful auctions from a P&L perspective. I can't imagine there is a strong internal business case for them to take a risk and embark on a new IT system project. It's crappy this last auction suffered the problems, but until they start losing business I can't see them doing anything about their website.

Then what they need to do is knock their own crap offering on the head and offer either only three ways to bid: In person, "bids on the book" in the traditional way or live bidding with the additional % charge through Invaluable. Regardless of the P&L it is inexcusable to offer a half arsed, barely functioning system whilst blaming their customers and treating them badly when it does go wrong.

Hopefully they will learn from the technical faults (whatever they were) and do better next time. Ideally we just need better competition in this area from other auction houses to start getting all the players to up-their-game. Seems like Vectis have worked themselves into a bit of a monopoly in terms of vintage star wars auctions.

Another great show, really enjoyed the poster talk. I have several myself. I've also wondered about whether to get any of them linen backed, I know some poster collectors frown upon it, but I think I'm sold. Going to look into getting my Star Wars/ Empire double bill quad done in the new year.

Slow progress this month chaps with no daily commute but got there in the end

Thanks for having me back and I enjoyed the rest of the show, especially Matt's poster section. I never knew there was so much out there and I looked at the landscape Rogue 1 cinema posters with new knowledge

Now onto the Christmas special

I'm late. Great show as always and thanks for the hard work.

Did I hear Matt Fox say his exhibit is coming to Scotland? Can you elaborate further, Matt?

I too enjoyed the big up to the HCF pencil tops. I'm surprised to hear that some quads needed repainting to fit the format. I'm off to compare posters and look at Yupis. Yuuupppiiii!

Edit. I see the squarer version of that Empire art, also used on the back of the soundtrack LP, is the only one that includes Fett on the corner. No wonder he only appears on occasional depictions: I've been looking at two different paintings for years. Mind blown etc

Yes, the show will be coming to Scotland in the Spring - I might get told off by the museum in question for saying more as they'll probably want the official announcement to come from their marketing dept.

Regarding linen backing - I'd defo suggest you try it out with one poster first and see the results with your own eyes. You'll soon know if it's for you, but it positively enhances both the longevity of a poster and how well it presents so for me it's a definite winner.

I'd recommend using Poster Mountain in the US. They have a deal with a gallery called Antikbar in London, so UK collectors can simply send their poster to Antikbar and then they send it on to Poster Mountain (so you only pay local postage). I've found them to offer a really brilliant service.

Great episode. If anybody in London fancies a look at some of the SW posters in person (pre oscars Quad, the rare SW quad and an ESB quad plus a few others) - the movie poster shop on Marylebone High Street has them in. No affiliation!
