My Palitoy 12 & 20 moc collection

Hi all,

Over the last few years I've managed to put together (what I think is) a really good set of Palitoy moc's. (When I get some good group shots I'm going to paste them in the display section). However, I've got to a point where I think it might be time to sell up as I have nowhere to display them and so am not getting any enjoyment out of them. I've always kept my eye on e-bay and vectis to get an idea of prices but they seem to fluctuate so much. I've learned a lot from this forum (although have been a quiet participant) and have had some great dealings with its members so, ideally, I'd like to offer them here first but need to get an idea of what people think are fair prices to ask. I'm not dead-set on selling yet but will list them here first if I do.

I've also got some other Palitoy MOC's (30, 41 & 45a's) along with quite a few Trilogo cards.. But I may put them in a new thread to stop this getting too pic heavy.

Here are my 12 & 20 backs. All, in my opinion, are pretty mint. Some graded, some not. The only flaw in the bunch is the 20 back Hammerhead where some tool decided to ink over the sticker tear spoiling an otherwise beautiful card.

Really appreciate any advice. Presumably best prices are to be had individually but given this is complete it would be great to see if anyone thinks it would be worth selling as one lot?

Thanks a lot, Steve

[had to load the pics over a couple of posts as don't know how to upload more than 5 pics at a time!]

Hi Steve.

Think people will be all over you if you do put these up for sale.

I know in the last month someone paid £1400 for a ukg 85 Stormy and last week paid £1100 for a ukg80 Greedo.

I'd be interested in a couple if you did sell them esp the jawa.

Good luck with whatever you do with them. Stunning collection mate.

Nice cards. 8)

wouldn't even begin to be able to say what individual prices would be these days as they seem to be jumping all over the place.

There are some people on here who keep track of various sales, so hopefully they'll be able to give you a current average price

What a stunning collection.

You will get more selling them individually rather than a set. If you sell as a set you will get them sold quicker but be prepared to see them for sale individually on Facebook or eBay.

I'm sure most of these would sell on here. A lot of palitoy love here and there are a few figures there that would be key pieces for incomplete collections.

I'd have thought selling as a set would have been harder?

That's a lot of money someone would have to have up front to buy a set. Can't be many able/wanting to do that?

But hey, I could be very wrong. Judging by what some pieces go for there clearly are people out there with that kind of money

I know of a couple of people at least that would certainly try take the set but offer 40-50% of full market value to split the set to flip.

It's slightly less appealing to a flipper as a lot of it is graded already and that seems to be where these people try to get their markup.

I agree that selling them individually will likely yield a greater return.

However, once the big fish get a whiff of this they may steam in with an offer you can't refuse.

The big boys might be able to help you out with prices too.

An afa 85 Greedo went for just under a grand a few weeks ago. Jeff Jacob was the seller in the states.

Ah yes, I guess if not for a collection then that is a possibility.

Comparing like for like I can only help with the stormy that I know of that had higher subgrades than this one (straight 85s) but ukg not afa that went for £1400.

As for the others, you need the big boys to chip in who regularly deal in these. I'm sure that there will be plenty of discussion over the bank holiday weekend. I'd suggest looking at e bay and vectis sold items to gauge the market but it does seem very inconsistent at the moment.

Good luck with it.

I can't really help you but I will try a bit. The high end ones you would need to speak to the right people who I'm sure will be along soon.

Chewy is a funny one. At 85 id say he's top end but he is going yellow by the looks of it. Ungraded I have seen them go from £2k up to £4K for a real nice one. At 85, maybe this one would bust through the top of that, I don't know.

Luke xwing is probably somewhere around £600 - £700. The Dsc will probably be similar. The higher graded Tusken I would have thought would be around £1k, with the cheaper maybe around the £600-£700.

That's about all I could roughly price and I'm not a serious buyer of these. A few more of the palitoy guys will watch the market closer and may be able to add a bit more.

Seemingly though, the markets dropped a bit on these, but more so on the 30 backs that were through the roof a year or so ago.

thanks a lot for that, very helpful. The Chewie really is a beauty.. The bubble is slightly yellowed but otherwise it is in fantastic shape and just looks awesome.

Agree with those above.

My thoughts below for discussion on the rest (I think I have a tendency to over-price btw based on previous threads). It's a bit odd but it's been noted recently that graded ones with a grade less than AFA85 go for significantly less than the quality ungraded ones, so on that basis anything less than AFA85 might feel like I'm giving a low valuation but that's just how's things seem to be.

Leia 1250 - 1450 (based on recent Vectis sales for AFA80s)
Han 1200 - 1300
C-3PO 1000
Ben, really difficult one, I know several people need him but not the best card and bubble is crushed at bottom (?) for some so around 1500+
Jawa, some people will think I'm mad but I've not seen one go for sale for ages and with that grade I think that would go for very good money to the right buyer 1100 - 1300
Vader 1400 - 1500
Chewie, great grade, shame about the bubble as it will put some people off, hard to know, £3.5k+ but no idea how much more. A clear bubble AFA85 can easily top £4.5k.
R2, great grade 1200 - 1400, maybe more to an AFA85 collector
Luke 2500 - 3000
Power droid, lots of people looking for this one 1500+
HH 800
Greedo 1000
DSD, another tough-ish one 1200?
Wally 800
Snag 900
R5 800, would obv be much more if better grade, ungraded one £1k+

There's going to be a ton of variation all over the place on these but good luck if you end up selling them :D

Oh and if you think the DSD, R5 and Greedo would get somewhere close to AFA85s then it might be worth considering getting them graded. If you don't, the buyer probably will

Here are the most recent prices for ones sold on eBay -

Leia B Back AFA80 - 1700 BIN June 2014
Han 1200 A Back AFA85 - 2550 BIN March 2016
C-3PO B Back Nice condition - 800 October 2015. A Back AFA85 - 1350 (accepted offer) April 2016
Ben - Can only find one from back in March 2013 that wasn't in great condition and went for 1000. As said it's a tricky one as they haven't come up much on eBay so I'd think 1700-2.5k
Jawa B Back AFA80 - 1000 BIN April 2014. The jaws doesn't come up often and especially not an 85 grade, this one could go high on eBay, maybe even 1500-1700 to the right collector looking to complete a 12 back run at 85 grade.
Vader A Back AFA80 - 1272 April 2016, with yours being ungraded but looking really nice (maybe 85) I think it could get the 1100-1400 mark.
Chewy 12 A Back (green bowcaster) AFA85 - 3700 August 2015. As mentioned with yours being a slightly yellowed bubble this could knock 1K off so depends on what the collector is looking for.
R2 B Back AFA80 - 995 BIN June 2014 For your 85 it's probably going to go for around 1500
Luke B Back UKG85 - 4100 Feb 2016, probably as mentioned before 2500-3000
Stormtrooper B Back AFA85 - 1100 June 2015
Sand People A Back AFA85 - 1150 December 2015
DSC B Back Really nice condition - 860 December 2015
Power droid - No record of one sold on eBay but it's a tricky one to get so probably as said 1500- 1800
HH Nice condition - 700 BIN January 2014
Greedo Nice condition - 716 December 2015
DSD UKG75 - 700 May 2015
Wally AFA80 - 575 April 2016. AFA80 - 995 June 2015
Snag Tiny dent in top corner of bubble but nice - 600 BIN May 2015
R5 - No record of one sold on eBay
LXW Great shape - 356 May 2015

Hope that's of some help :D
