What a crock of ****! If there's nothing wrong with the item and someone flips at a higher price they'll soon get grief for it and be known as a greedy ****. There's no need for the rule, everyone can see these items and it's self policing. In this case, if you're not happy with it for some reason you can return it or if you just decide you don't want it and want to sell it on (at the same/similar price) it's up to you - it's yours!

THIS. In the words of Yoda, "there is another..." (UK FB group which follows Eds philosophy)

Yavin 4 --> https://www.facebook.com/groups/1580651845528169/

(excuse the shameless plug) :)

One thing some of the FB groups could learn from the forums is to limit FS threads so that people who need attention have to combine their daily / twice daily items for sale. The groups just get completely bogged down with endless "hey, it's Monday, buy my tat for £5" then "hey it's Tuesday buy some different tat for £7" ... It only takes a handful of people doing it and proper threads end up never getting read. It's not that difficult to do it every few days.

I agree that Echo is waaay over the top with the rules. Admins also seem to only enforce these rules when it suits and dependent on who breaks them (I won't go into detail) I much prefer the 12 Back group, ROTJ Group and Yavin.

I think Edds **** rule is fair and the only one needed. :D

Was that him?! Yes, all got a bit tedious after a while - he's gone very quiet.

I have no problem with valuations, even when there's loads of them but what does get to me is when that's all your input into the forum is, no other interactions other than 'what's my stuff worth' and 'look at my stuff I paid almost nothing for'.

Yavin is the better FB group for selling. Sales thread here has picked up recently too :)

We try to operate the no twats rule on Yavin, some twats still get through from time to time. It also helps to listen to the members and what they want, not force things down from above. The 12/21, ESB and a few new groups are really good. The Dark Times is well worth checking out. If you don't like how a group operates, quit it.

Talk to the regular echo users and they are full of praise for the group and how it is run. The rules keep members protected and a true community spirit alive. Only people who dont like echo are the people who have something to hide and the people who want to rip the arse out of pricing.

Wow. Maybe re-read this thread and possibly rephrase that based on the op and the comments made as that might come across as a little offensive mate.

My comment was not intended to be offensive, it was intended to be defensive. Nor was it directed at anyone on here.
To put it simply all the rules on echo are there for a good reason. They are there because they need to be. There are actually very few rules that are different to many other groups and forums.
Why would a genuine seller have issue with putting his name and date on a picture to prove ownership?
Would a seller who wanted to sell an item at a reasonable price to a collector be happy for someone to buy it at a ''community'' price only to sell it 2 days later for £20 more therefore doing a genuine collector out of a decent price?
There are many groups and forums out there which offer a great service to collectors and each have there own way of doing things. When you join you read the rules and if you dont like them you leave. I just feel its wrong for people to join a group and have dealings on it and then complain about the rules and the way things are done. If you choose to be a member you choose to abide by the rules. The amount of comments on this thread having a pop at echo are unfair and uncalled for. If you don't like it then that's fair enough but don't go slating it on other groups.
We are not here to score points, its not a competition, we are here to help collectors and to help the hobby thrive and thats something I believe we all share.

Alan, I have no idea who you are but this statement is full of crap. My comments above were aimed at many groups (and I seem to be added to more and more daily which is annoying as hell). I have NOTHING to hide and NOTHING I have ever done rips the arse out of pricing. The admins know what I and others do not like about EB. They choose to ignore it and that's fine. But don't try and come on here and say that EB is community driven when it clearly isn't. Partial community, maybe. Protecting a subgroup of collectors, maybe. But a lot of the biggest guys in the community who do way more than I have ever done have issues. It says a lot. Listen to what people tell you instead of defending constantly. You take everything as an attack, and it isn't believe me. This site, and its members are true community. Part of the reason is the admin / modding style. That's something we appreciate.

Alan,

We all live in a country that has all sorts of silly rules, all handed down by various levels of government and many of them ignored or mocked or at the very least moaned about in virtually every workplace and watering hole from Lands End to John O'Groats. It's part of what makes us British.
What it doesn't mean is that we all up sticks and emigrate to Australia or move to the next county because we don't like the local bylaw about not being allowed out past 10 on a full moon, it means we can go and waffle a load of crap with our mates at work, in the pub or on the internet.
On Echo I seriously doubt I'd still be a member if I called anyone out over price or service or heaven forbid challenged or questioned the rules and now you want to come on here telling people what they can and cannot say about your group? Really?

Let's see if my membership is allowed to continue after you've read this then.

Guys why do you feel the need to come on here and slag our group, we dont go around slagging off swfuk or any other fb group?

If you don't like echo or its rules thats fine everyone can't get along that's life.

Most of the people you refer to Rich who have done loads in the community are arrogant and feel they should be treated different because they have loads to sell (usually to mates) on echo we treat everyone the same.

Most people who moan about echo have been banned or left because they don't like getting treated the same as everyone else.

Now i suggest that everyone run their page/forum to the best of their ability and we will run ours.

Paul you know that some of this is not true. EB admins have indeed made sly digs publicly and privately. Arrogance is interesting, I don't see it.
I agree with most of the rest; I'm tired of the same old arguments and going around in circles. If you don't like EB, then quit. There are alternatives.

****ing hell guys, everyone complains that there's too much flipping going on and then when a group puts in a rule to stop it (I'm assuming only to stop people flipping on their own group, which they could easily enforce) everyone gives them ****. If you don't like their rules then don't buy from there.

I would rather we had loads of rules than some fb pages that have virtually none and are a haven for scammers, flippers that we have just booted.
Rich if have if I have a problem with yavin I would mail you not whine on here enjoy your day
