SWFuk world dominance or high mileage figure?

Stealing this idea from a PC mag I used to read –

Forum members take pictures of themselves while away on Hols/work and we mark off the countries on a map to see how long it takes to hit every country. Was thinking you wear a forum t-shirt or cap in the picture.

But then I thought of another idea which might be better. We pick a figure from the original 12 (I'm thinking a Stormie which I'll happily donate) and we take pictures of him at different locations across the world.

He'll arguably become the highest mileage and most travelled figure in existence! It'll take longer as obviously he can't be in two places at once but as he's just a single figure he'll be cheap enough to send on to the next forum member that is heading somewhere new.

Not a race more of a marathon, it'll take many years but I bet we could have him visiting all four corners, 10 years from now all that will be left of him will be a yellowed arm but he'll famous :D

What does everyone think?

I'm sure Grant was talking about something similar

Sorry Grant if I'm reposting something you suggested - should have checked for similar posts first

No worries mate- I was actually speaking to the guy who played Yak Face last week.

He asked for help doing a similar project. Would you like to hear about it?

Don't want to tread on toes here.

Absolutely - but if the idea is to have a well travelled Yak face I'm not donating him

Was mean't to post this Tuesday but am real busy.

On Monday I met Sean Crawford who plays Yak Face in Return of the Jedi.

He is starting a project where he would like fans to take photographs of Yak Face on holiday.

I asked him to write the web or email address on the back of an autograph and now looking at it- it just says 'the elusive Yak Face'

Cant find the link anywhere.

Me bad

A better way to do it was if every participant had their own Stormie and clocked up the miles thus.

The bad about this is that some dollar-rich forumites can go many place, but the paupers (i.e. me!) can't! It's al little bit like the teddy bear that school kids have to look after over a weekend and the parents take them away Paris or wherever.

I thought I would get the ball rolling for some inspiration....

Here are Ponda and Veers (Walrus Man and AT AT Commander) on tour. These are mine and my sons favourite figures and they tend to follow us around. Once a certain figure is decided we can stick to that or just use our favourite/focus figures.

Vader might be a good one because Anakin says as a kid he wants to be the first person to visit every planet...

JuniorChubb - superb pictures mate, nothing better than seeing a well worn/loved figure that's see a lots of action and adventures especially if it's across 2 generations :D

Grant you were approached 1st so do you want to get this up and running, sounds a good thing to be involved in, saying that I don't have a YF and if I do I won't be taking him on holiday in case I loose him

Theslider - nice variation on the idea as well, would certainly make it easier but I must admit I liked the idea of a shared figure that gets past around between members a bit like the Vader MOC with the Anakin sticker smack in the middle of Vader's face :D

I'd happily get involved with any of these ideas (great excuse to pick up a yak face) as I reckon it'll be a good laugh seeing some of the remote places we get to over the years!

Here's the picture I submitted to the PC mag nearly ten years ago. I won the competition that month and got a very nice coolermaster water cooling system for my troubles - the editor was clearly a SW fan :D

actually..... ts and jc your right about not using one figure, as much as having one that we all share would be pretty cool it would cause lots of "sharing" problems, like the idea of marking a place off as conquered just by taking a picture with a vintage figure, either a forum picked one or just your favourite travelling companion :D

What would everyone prefer - a quick vote for a specific figure that we use from our own collections or just any figure to keep it simple?

Cheers :D

It's Wally's second trip across the pond, he went state-side in 1987 too. He gets around a bit

That AT AT looks familiar too, that ride is amazing. I won't be going abroad again for a few years though. I might just send my Wally to Todd or Ryan to take some pics for me.

As for voting, I am happy to go with one chosen figure, or just use our personal fav's. Also we have a good few countries covered already by the members on her.

I think it would be best to each choose 1 figure and 1 figure only of our own so we all know whos gonna pop up where! For instance, i'll have Amanaman and every place i go will take a photo of him at some landmark from time to time. Need to get him some nice shades tho' cos he will be off to Spain in a few months 8)
I'm sure he will look pretty cool with the Grimsby Ultras aswell at away games where i obviously wont get much stick! ( sarcasm button ON ) :?
