Hello...I have an original Star Wars, twentieth century fox video rental library cardboard advert and was wondering if anyone here knows anything about it...It measures 21" x 36" it has a small amount of wear and tear around the corners and edges

Many thanks

Hey
Welcome along. If i am honest this one is a bit tricky to price as advertising cut outs are hard to assess, this would have been distributed to video rental stores with however many copies of the VHS they requested. I even think the colours and image used on the cardboard matched the original artwork on the VHS rental cover sleeve (that might need verifying though :) ) It is a nice image and obviously replicates the original 77 art.

As a rule VHS posters (which this isn't, but might act as something of a guide) don't really get much attention in the 'poster world' and as such tend to be a lot lower in value than their cinema sized relatives and cardboard cut outs even less so. But that said this is a nice image and certainly an original promotional peice so i think it would be worth a bit more than other cutouts. At a guess i would have though anything between £20 and £40 might be in the ball park but that is a real guess, it is nice, it is rare in that most cardbaord cutouts didn't and don't survive due mainly to the fact they are made out of card, but also I've never seen a big market for them and certainly no poster dealers i know would carry them.

I hope someone else might be able to put a more acurate number against it if you are looking to sell otherwise you should look at framing it and protecting from further decay (thin wooden frame and perspex fronting would be best) that way it can be enjoyed for a long time to come.

Thanks for the in depth reply...It certainly seems to have aged quite well seeing it's function etc...I look forward to any other replies or interest in it

Many thanks Matt

All the best

Jim
