the empire strikes back limited edition poster.

i have been offered a large limited edition empire strikes back poster for my collection. i know that its from the re-released trilogy from 1997 but have no idea about a price for it? they want 200 british pounds for it. it measures approx 1.6 m by 2.4m does anyone have any knowledge that could help me as i am a sucker for anything star wars but people know this and take advantage.

I am pretty sure you are not sitting on anything sort after as its from the released trilogy in 97 not the orignals there but some pics would help.

i am trying to upload a picture but not having much luck im afraid but i will keep trying. the lady who is selling it says that its pre 1997 but it has special edition along the top of it which was released in the 90's as far as im aware. but i will kneel down before you if your knowledge is greater than mine.

hi can anyone give me a idea of the value of this poster i am being offered. i usually just stick to the vintage figures as my knowledge about other star wars items is slim. plus there is so much you could buy you'd have to be a rich to keep up. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well as I said as it is a modern rerelease I would not say its worth a lot! Only original posters are valuable other than exceptional circumstances I think?

no i was being offered the poster. the lady kept saying it was pre 1997 but i was not convinced. like most star wars fans im mostly interested in vintage items but will part with my cash for later things if i like them. decided to pass on the poster and thanks for your help.

i think all the re release posters designed by drew struzan came with his signature on. check them out on his web site http://www.drewstruzan.com/illustrated/

what kind of thing are you interested in seeing pictures off? i have mostly the original vintage figures and vehicles, with some 12 inch figures also. i have a masters replica stormtrooper helmet but sadly no suit to go with it.

Mate I'm by no means an expert on movie posters but unless that is of a limited edition or a very sought after original movie Quad poster its not worth £200. It is part of the Drew Struzan triptych for the re-releases.

IMO - What I think this is a print that someone has run out on a large printer hence the white border. Most versions of this artwork I have seen have more of the black border so as it joins up with the other posters from the re-released trilogy. This artwork seems cropped and is very tight to the text at the top, see the link below. I could be completely wrong though

I agree with Pigcity on this. The 1997 posters were all doubles sided (be it UK quad or 1 sheet) and none had white boarders. Secondly even if this was a genuine poster it isn't worth £200, more like £35 - £40ish depending on condition. if you really want one (and they are nice so i would recomend them, all three 97's together are great, and better looking as a set than the originals IMO) then there are plenty on on-line vendors to go to, these two being examples:
